Healthy eating is a lifestyle choice that plays a fundamental role in optimal health and quality living. Human beings are designed to eat the natural, whole foods that nature provides for us- much like our ancestors consumed. The foods we choose make a big difference in our body's ability to function properly and maintain good health. The systems of the body work together, not independently, to support overall health.
Through chemical reactions the body transforms the foods we eat into energy and other important materials needed to keep body systems functioning, drive metabolic processes, promote proper growth and development, supply the raw materials needed for the maintenance & repair of body tissues and bolster the immune and detoxification systems of the body. Nutrients, such as vitamins and minerals, play crucial roles in the chemical reactions and metabolic pathways of the body.
Over time, poor nutrition can lead to decreased function or alterations in these pathways and ultimately to poor health and disease. Healthy eating is required to properly energize the body and supply the appropriate amounts of essential nutrients. Nutrient-rich foods are the foundation to overall well-being and health, and help critical body systems to function as intended.

Powerfuel Nutrition offers a comprehensive, progressive and personal approach to optimal nutrition, weight and well-being.

Why Choose a Registered Dietitian?

The "RD" status is a legally protected title that can only be used by practitioners who are authorized by the Commission on Dietetic Registration and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
However, the definition and requirements for the term "nutritionist" vary. Some states have licensure laws that define the scope of practice for someone claiming to be a nutritionist. In other states, such as New Jersey, virtually anyone can call himself or herself a nutritionist regardless of education and training.

Registered dietitians have fulfilled specific requirements including having earned at least a bachelor's degree, completed a supervised practice program and passed a registration examination- in addition to maintaining continuing education requirements for recertification.
